Chelsea defender David Luiz signed for the London club in 2010 but still keeps a keen eye on how things are going at his former club in Portugal, Benfica.

The Seleção star continues to follow his former club and remains good friends with  the Portuguese club president Luís Filipe Vieira, and with the presidential elections looming, Luiz did not hesitate to throw his support behind Viera. He told Portugal newspaper Record:

“Vieira should be president for life of Benfica. He could be president of Brazil……..Benfica is my home, and the president is one of my best friends.”

The 25-year-old is finally finding his feet at Stamford Bridge after a tricky start, which saw former Manchester United defender, and now Sky Sports Pundit, Gary Neville to comment that the player looked like he was ‘controlled by a 10-year-old on a Playstation’

However, Luiz has stated how happy he is at the European champions and recently signed a new 5-year contract.
