Internacional coach Fernandão believes he has emerged stronger from the crisis of last weekend’s defeat away to bottom club Atlético Clube Goianiense, after which he handed in his resignation.

The offer was quickly dismissed by the board at the Beira-Rio and now, after a few days reflection, it seems the 34-year-old is determined to prove his doubters wrong and finish in the top 4 spots for a place in next year’s Copa Libertadores.

Fernandão believes the reaction in the dressing room has been good and thinks its possible for the club to collect maximum points from the remaining 8 matches. However, for those players not committed then the coach is happy to do without.

He said: “I think my command emerged even stronger. That’s what they need to see with 8 games left and we must win. Those who welcomes the challenge to perform for 8 games, great. Those who don’t agree with the direction can go and ask holidays.”
