Luxemburgo confident Grêmio can beat Fluminense this Wednesday

The groans of disappointed which greeted the final whistle in the Olímpico were ones of frustration. The last gasp equaliser conceded by Grêmio at home to Botafogo not only saw them drop 2 valuable points, but drop further behind the league leaders Fluminense who they face this Wednesday in Rio.
Had Vanderlei Luxemburgo's team hung on for the victory yesterday they would have stayed 7 points adrift of the top, but with the chance to reduce that gap further when the sides meet this week. A fixture Grêmio are confident of winning, given that they beat Abel Braga's side 2-1 in the earlier fixture in Porto Alegre.
The home side took the lead in the game just after half time through Léo Gago and looked to be heading for all 3 points until Bruno Mendes got a late equaliser. However, for Luxemburgo, all is not lost.
He said: "We can win there. Fluminense have two defeats, one to us. No problem, it's within the grandeur of Grêmio to want to win away from home."
However, the former Flamengo coach was wary to note that the aim is still to make the Copa Libertadores.
"The project was supposed to be about the Libertadores. I can not throw everything onto game," he added.
