The director of the Brazilian football federation (CBF) Andrés Sanchez denied that the Superclássico had been re-arranged, despite reports earlier today that the game was to be played at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires on 21st November.

The director said: “I know nothing official. Just what I heard in the press.”

The original fixture was due to be played on 3rd October in the city of Resistencia, Argentina. However, the game was canceled due to power problems in the Centenary Stadium.

Planning when to play the fixture has proved to be quite difficult due to a pretty packed domestic calendar for both countries until the end of the year and many thought that it would be pushed back into 2013.

However, if the date of 21st November is confirmed, it is likely to be unpopular amongst coaches of Brasileirão teams as it falls just a week before the penultimate round of fixtures of the season and, with the fixture being open only to players playing in Brazil, means that Seleção coach Mano Menezes will not be able to call on those players based in Europe.

Before that, however, the full Brazilian national team will be in action when they face Columbia on 14th November in New Jersey.
