São Paulo boss expects 2013 Ganso return
São Paulo manager Ney Franco admits he is not counting on the services of midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso this season, as the midfielder recovers from a thigh injury.
Ganso, 23 today, joined São Paulo in early September after a contractual disagreement with Santos led to his eventual departure from the club.
"We must look at several aspects before we see Ganso on the field," Ney told reporters. "Clearly the thinking is to use him this season, but it will not be a surprise if he cannot play until next year.
"Ganso has a five year contract and there is no needs to hurry him back. When he is ready to return, then we must still go through a process of physical preparation."
Ganso's return from injury was originally scheduled for early-November, but São Paulo are currently avoiding naming a date for his debut.
The Tricolor Paulista paid Santos a fee of R$23.9 million (£7.5 million) for his services, with the midfielder signing a contract until until 2017.
