Fans launch website appealing Ceni not to retire
São Paulo supporters have launched a website in a desperate bid to change Rogerio Ceni's mind over his decision to retire from football at the end of the season.
Ceni, 39, is currently captain and first choice goalkeeper at São Paulo and recently made an assured performance between the sticks against Vasco.
The website features a range of pictures and videos of Ceni's performances for the club and features some of his greatest moments. The website also contains a message urging Ceni to reconsider his decision.
The goalkeeper played a total of 473 games over 22 years for the Rio side and also appeared 17 times for the Seleção.
Ceni is famous for scoring more than 100 goals in his career, despite being a goalkeeper. He regularly takes free kicks and penalties and is the first ever goalkeeper to achieve that milestone.
The decision to retire draws a curtain on a hugely successful career featuring 14 major titles, including two Copa Libertadores.
