On-loan Chinese striker Chen Zhizhao moved closer to his Brasileirão debut for Corinthians on Wednesday night as he was once again included on the Timão bench for the 3-2 win over Flamengo at Pacaembu.

The striker, who has been the focus of much criticism since arriving in Brazil due to many seeing his move as a pure marketing ploy, didn"t make it onto the pitch in the dramatic victory but was delighted to hear the fans singing his name and shouting for his introduction.

He said: “I heard [the singing]. It gave me a very good feeling. Thank you to the fans."

Corinthians head coach  Tite confirmed that Zizao was due to enter the field in the second half if the Copa Libertadores champions had managed to make it 3-1. However, with the score still at 2-1 Tite decided to introduce defender Anderson Polga in the place of midfielder Douglas. The Chinese understood.

“I believe I didn"t get on because the team was winning and needing another defender in the second half. I hope to play as soon as possible. I"ll be ready. I"ll play, and you"ll see." he added.
