Brazil midfielder Paulinho has committed his future to Corinthians by signing a new contract which runs until 2015.

Corinthians have now acquired 50% of Paulinho’s rights for an estimated $15m from Timon after the clubs registered the deal with the CBF.

However, there are suggestions in the local media that this is merely a ploy by Corinthians to have a final say in the Brazilian’s sale.

Gazetaesportiva claims that the Corinthians board has admitted they cannot hold on to Paulinho for long, with the director of football Roberto de Andrade telling the paper that the midfielder could be sold in the next two transfer windows.

Last season, Corinthians and Paulinho reportedly rejected an offer from Italian giants Inter and Corinthians have moved to secure their interests in the midfielder ahead of a possible sale.

As part of the deal, Paulinho has also received an increase in wages.

Paulinho is currently with the Seleção, ready to face Iraq and Japan on October 11 and 16.
