Real Madrid’s Marcelo has refused to concede defeat in the title race saying that it’s ‘too soon’ to write off Jose Mourinho’s side.

Marcelo, 24, spoke after Real’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona in the El Clásico: “It’s going to be hard to overtake Barcelona but we’ll work hard to reduce the gap. La Liga is not over, it’s too soon to say that.

“Eight points is a big difference, but nothing is decided yet.”

The Brazilian was happy with his side’s performance at the weekend: “Camp Nou is a really difficult stadium to win in. I’m really glad because we have fought hard and made a great effort so I’m satisfied. We had our chances, but we couldn’t score.

“We’ve won games in the past with fewer chances, but the draw is not a bad result.”

The draw for Real means that they remain eight points behind leaders Barcelona in the La Liga seven games into the season.
