The system is similar to that which Brazil utilised in their 8-0 defeat of China, where Neymar will be supported by a line of three – likely to be Hulk, Kaká and Oscar.

There is still some doubt over whether Hulk or Lucas Moura will be preferred in the third, right-sided, attacking midfield slot, but it is likely Hulk’s recent good performances will win preference.

Lance! then report that Mano Menezes will stick with a midfield duo of Ramires and Paulinho, whilst Adriano, Thiago Silva, David Luiz and Marcelo make up an unsurprising back-four.

The selection would mean, however, that there is no place in the line-up for target-man Leandro Damião, whilst Tottenham midfielder Sandro is also unfortunate to miss-out.

First-choice right-back Dani Alves has been forced out of the encounters with Iraq and Japan after picking up an injury in this weekend’s El Clasico fixture in Spain.

Brazil take on Iraq in Sweden on Thursday before returning to Poland, where they are based, to take on Japan next Tuesday.
