Renato Santos could make his debut for Flamengo on Wednesday when his new club travels to Corinthians.

The 25-year-old defender moved from Avaí to the Rubro-Negro last month, along with teammate Cléber Santana, following some impressive performances in Série B.

However, Renato Santos arrived with a left thigh problem and has been working on his recovery up until last week.

He said: “I"m physically 90% ready, and it is still taking a little more rhythm to reach 100%.

“That only comes with games because in training you can train as it is, but the game pace is different."

Flamengo coach Dorival Júnior may have to select the defender due to the absence of Chilean centre-back Marcos González.

Renato Santos added: “I"ve been preparing for this very day [debut] since my treatment and my recovery.

“I can be available to Dorival for the game with Corinthians.

“If he needs me, I"ll give my best."

Flamengo visit the Estádio do Pacaembu on Wednesday in the 29th round of the Brasileirão, with the game kicking off at 02:00 BST.
