As the Seleção arrived in Wroclaw on Monday ahead of fixtures with Iraq and Japan, Neymar was quick to express his delight at Kaká’s return to the national side.

Neymar, 20, was yet to make his international debut the last time Kaká appeared for the Seleção, with the Real Madrid midfielder having not played in the Canarinha since the 2010 World Cup.

The Santos star believes that, in a year when Brazil have found themselves often criticised, Kaká’s experience will be invaluable in guiding the team ahead of the next World Cup in 2014.

“Kaká is an idol for all of us, it’s no secret,” Neymar told reporters outside the team hotel. “I still haven’t met him, it will be the first time I have had contact with him. His experience can help us a lot.”

Kaká had been included in the squad for last year’s friendly encounters with Gabon and Egypt, but eventually withdrew having picked-up a calf strain playing for his club.

His last game for the Seleção was the World Cup quarter-final, which Brazil lost to Netherlands after a Felipe Melo red-card.
