Arsenal’s Brazilian defender André Santos could start for the club’s Under-21 side on Monday evening after seeing opportunities limited this campaign.

André Santos, 29, would be one of up to three overage outfield players allowed to compete as part of the new Under-21 Premier League rules.

The former Fenerbahce man has been limited to just one start this season due to the excellent form of English defender Kieran Gibbs – although he has now withdrawn from the upcoming England squad through injury.

With André Santos short of match practice, Goal.com report that he is set to be given an opportunity to build his fitness with the reserve side – even more pertinent given Gibbs’ latest injury.

Others who will feature in the fixture with Reading are England’s Jack Wilshere and Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong – both of whom are returning from lengthy injuries.

It has been an eventful few weeks for the former Corinthians star, having received a fine and year-long driving ban after being found guilty of dangerous driving.
