Ronaldinho inspired Atlético Mineiro to a 6-0 win over Figueirense with a hat trick and two assists against the hapless relegation candidates who had Jackson sent off for a second yellow card.

Mineiro stay second, six points behind leaders Fluminense who won 1-0 against Botafogo courtesy of Fred’s 14th league goal of the season and his 21st in all competitions.

Grêmio remain third in the Copa Libertadores spot after goals from Marcelo Moreno and Marquinhos secured a 2-1 win against mid table Cruzeiro.

Vasco da Gama won 1-0 at Atlético GO thanks to former Lyon midfielder Juninho Pernambucano and Sao Paulo piled the misery on struggling Palmeiras with a 3-0 win after goals from Luís Fabiano (2) and a stunning strike from Arsenal loanee Denílson. 

Santos battled to a 1-1 draw against Internacional, Bernardo scoring for the home side before a reply from Internacional’s Cassiano.

Náutico beat fellow mid table side Corinthians 2-1 after Kieza and a Ralf own goal secured the three points.
