Internacional will be without Leandro Damião, Marcos Índio and Andrés D"Alessandro for their Brasileirão clash with Santos on Saturday.

The three have been ruled out with injuries as striker Damião has twisted his right ankle, defender Índio has a groin problem, and D"Alessandro suffered a muscle tear to his left thigh.

Damião had travelled with the Seleção to Resistencia City, despite his injury, for Brazil’s friendly with Argentina.

However, the game was cancelled and Damião has now been ruled out of his side’s game at the weekend.

The club’s medical director, Paulo Rabelo, said: “Leandro Damião suffered a sprained ankle in the match against Cruzeiro in the final round, and traveled with the [Brazil] squad with this problem.

“We communicate with the doctors and he travelled with the CBF hoping that he could play on Wednesday. However, he returned on Thursday, we looked again and decided to rest him for the game against Santos."

The Seleção forward is the third player to be ruled out, joining Índio and D"Alessandro on the treatment table.

Paulo Rabelo added: “He [D"Alessandro] did an injury on another muscle group. The scan reveals a local edema, but we"re hoping he can play next week.

“Índio is in pain in the region of his groin. Next week I think he can do some training with the group."

Luckily, coach Fernandão has replacements lined up for the trio, as Rafael Moura, Jackson, Lucas Lima and Dátolo are ready to step in.

The game at the Vila Belmiro Stadium on Saturday kicks off at 8:20pm.
