Following his first goal of the season in Chelsea’s Champions League victory over FC Nordsjaelland, a chance supplied by compatriot Oscar, Ramires has spoken both of his joy at scoring and playing alongside his countryman.

Ramires, 25, joined the Blues two years ago from Benfica and has made himself a major part of the club’s plans after playing a key role in the FA Cup and Champions League victories of 2011-12.

Having scored key goals in both those triumphs, Ramires has become a regular contributor on the scoresheet for Chelsea and was delighted to open his account for this season against the Danes.

“It is not my main responsibility”, he told Globo Esporte. “I never go into a game thinking primarily of scoring goals, but it’s always very pleasing when they come.

“This goal had a special feel as it was my first of the season and return to scoring after that goal against Barcelona – the most important of my career.”

Regarding Oscar, the former Cruzeiro man was quick to praise his collegue’s assist for his goal, adding that he hopes to form a long-term double-act with the youngster:

He continued: “I made a point to thank Oscar for the excellent pass he gave me and I hope our partnership will continue to work for Chelsea and the Seleção.”
