Leandro Damião: I saw Luís Fabiano and Adriano scoring goals against Argentina and dreamed of it
Brazil striker Leandro Damião has revealed that it is his dream to play and score against Argentina, ahead of today’s second Superclásico de las Américas.
In the first leg of the Superclásico, Brazil won 2-1 at the Serra Dourada in Goiania, thanks to a late Neymar penalty.
Damião will be looking to make Mano Menezes’ first eleven today, after starting on the bench last time, which the Internacional forward said he has dreamt of for years.
The 23-year-old said: "Surely it is a dream of any player to play in a Brazil and Argentina game.
"I saw Luís Fabiano and Adriano scoring goals against them and dreamed of it."
Damião, who represented Brazil at the London Olympics, has had his chances of starting increased as fellow striker Luís Fabiano, who started last time, is out with a thigh injury.
However, Damião insisted that there is no rivalry between him and the São Paulo veteran, who is actually one of his idols.
"I think there is no rivalry. Luís is an idol to me," he added.
The game at the Bicentenario stadium, in Resistencia City, kicks off at 02:00 BST.
