Former Inter goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca has criticised his old club for the way they forced out Júlio César, a player who won the treble with the Milan side just 2 years ago.

Pagliuca, who played for Italy at the 1994 World Cup, is a fan of Samir Handanovic, César’s replacement, who was signed from Udinese this summer, but felt that the club owed the Brazilian more respect.

He said: “Handanovic is a very reliable ‘keeper. He’s done well for years in Udine so he’s not a surprise. He has personality too.

“However, I don’t think that Inter behaved in the right way with regard to their comportment of Júlio César. He wasn’t treated in the right way when you consider all that he has done for the club over the years.”

The former Flamengo stopper, who has 64 caps for Brazil, signed for Queens Park Rangers on free transfer from Inter, signing a 4 year deal.
