Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has praised his young right-back Rafael Da Silva for his strong start to the Premier League season.

The Brazilian defender, whose twin brother, Fabio, is currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers, scored the equaliser in the recent 2-1 victory over Liverpool and Ferguson, speaking to the media ahead of United’s Champions League Group H fixture away to CFR Cluj, has been impressed with his form.

Ferguson told reporters: “Rafael was always going to develop. What he had was a great enthusiasm to play, but also a kind of over-exuberance in challenges and things like that.

“But I think he is 22. Eventually the penny drops for these lads the more games they play, he had a great experience playing with Brazil in the summer which has helped him. He is going to be a consistent performer.”

Rafael, along with his brother Fabio, joined the 3 time European Cup winners in 2008 from Fluminense.
