Grêmio still in the Brasileirão hunt
Grêmio coach Vanderlei Luxembourgo has refused to rule his team out of the Brasileirão title race despite dropping two valuable points in the 1-1 draw at home to Santos on Sunday evening.
Luxembourgo, who took over of the Porto Alegre based club in February this year after leaving Flamengo, believes that the 9-point gap to leaders Fluminense is achievable.
"If someone says the league is over today, I would leave happy.
"I didn’t cheat the fans, but I never said I wouldn't like to win the league," He added. "It was important to win today but we are after the Libertadores classification. Nothing is or definitive so far."
The Tricolor coach also went on to say that he felt a total of around 74 points would be enough to clinch the title this year.
Grêmio have previously won the Brasileirão on two occasions, the last triumph coming in 1996 when Luiz Felipe Scolari was at the helm.
