Neymar has revealed his delight at Santos lifting their first ever Recopa Sudamericana trophy, following a 2-0 win over Universidad de Chile.

The 20-year-old scored and missed a penalty during the game, which is contested between the champions of the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana, to seal the win.

The win means Brazilian teams have now claimed more Sudamericana titles than any other South American nation, and Neymar is delighted with the triumph.

He said: “I’m extremely happy. A lot of people downplayed this competition but we took it very seriously.

“It’s another title for us, it was a trophy we had never won.”

Bruno Rodrigo also scored during the game and goalkeeper Rafael felt his side were good value for their victory over the Chilean outfit.

“We deserved it, we played well the entire match,” added Rafael.

“We fought hard to get here, following the Copa Libertadores title that we won last year.”
