Chelsea defender David Luiz has spoken of his joy at seeing fellow Brazilian Julio Cesar shine in the Premier League, even if it is for local rivals Queens Park Rangers.

Julio Cesar, 33, joined the West London side earlier this summer and is now based only a short distance away from Luiz, meeting up with the Chelsea player as soon as he arrived in Britain.

Indeed, the two were to meet again shortly after, with the goalkeeper making his debut for the Super Hoops against Chelsea at Loftus Road, keeping a clean-sheet after producing some brilliant saves.

Luiz believes that the former Seleção star is enjoying the challenge of a new club and new league at this stage of his career:

“On the first day when he arrived in London, he came here. He came and gave me a hug," he told Globo Esporte.

“It is a new challenge in his career and he is working as if he is starting again – like a 19 year-old kid. I am pleased to see it.

“Even though we drew [v QPR], we were disappointed with the result. But, to see someone you like protecting the goal at the other end is great. Last match, he was also brilliant, but couldn"t prevent defeat for his team."
