Having been presented to his new adoring São Paulo fans on Sunday night, ahead of the club’s 1-0 victory over Cruzeiro, Paulo Henrique Ganso admits he will take some time to get used to not playing alongside Neymar.
Ganso, 22, and Neymar were, for a long time, considered to come as a double-act, an outstanding pair of talents who rose through the ranks at Santos at a similar time.
However, through injury and poor form, Ganso has found his development stuttering, while Neymar has continued to grow and now, following a dispute with Santos over pay, the midfielder has chosen to join rivals São Paulo
“I am going to miss playing in the same team as Neymar because I see him as a brother,” Ganso told teporters.
“But, as I have said to him, as soon as I start playing well for São Paulo we will see each other in the national team.”
When asked how he will deal with playing against his great friend, Ganso simply replied: “It’s good that I’m not a defender because the guy is a genius.”
