Chelsea defender David Luiz has explained how he has taken Brazil colleague Oscar under his wing since his arrival in London, helping the youngster adapt to his new environs.

Oscar, 20, arrived at the club directly from Brazilian football, forfeiting the more gentle path through a European club that most arrivals in the Premier League benefit from.

Luiz, though, has done his utmost to ensure that his young compatriot feels comfortable in his West London surroundings.

“I take him every day to my house because he has no family over here,’ Luiz explained. ”I know how hard it is when you don’t speak the language.

“If you go to a restaurant for example and you don’t know what food you’re ordering it’s difficult. I try to show Oscar and help Chelsea too.”

Interestingly, David Luiz played a similar role last campaign with young starlet Lucas Piazon, who has made clear his appreciation of the former Benfica player’s efforts.

Besides his lively character, it seems Luiz has taken it upon himself to help Chelsea’s Brazilian newcomers adapt to their new life in London, a role the club no doubt appreciates.
