Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Willian has revealed his disappointment at failing to secure a big-money summer move, but still wants a transfer to a top European side in the future.

The 24-year-old was strongly linked with a move to both Tottenham and Chelsea during the European summer transfer window, but ultimately remained with the Ukrainian outfit.

Shakhtar and Chelsea have been paired together in Group E of the Champions League, and Willian is looking to impress any potential future employers.

“I had offers from Chelsea and Tottenham," he told Radio Estadao ESPN. “Tottenham"s offer was bigger than Chelsea"s – €30 million – but [Shakhtar"s] president turned it down.

“I was hoping to move to one of those clubs. I want to play in one of those places where there is more visibility, but unfortunately it didn"t happen.

“Now it"s time to care about the Champions League, impress and hope some clubs get interested."
