Galatasaray defender Cris has spoken of his eagerness to take on Manchester United once more at Old Trafford this week and, in particular, the challenge of marking striker Robin van Persie.

Cris, 35, joined the Turkish giants this summer after eight years with Lyon in Ligue 1 and enjoyed a positive start with a 4-0 debut win over Antalyaspor.

Going into the game as clear underdogs, the 27-cap Brazil international believes that his side are well prepared for what could be a testing 90 minutes.

“The team has a great spirit, we are unbeaten this season and we are confident,” Cris told Sambafoot.

“It will be a difficult game. I have played twice at Old Trafford and they are always very dangerous. We must defend as a team, keep the ball well and take our opportunities if they appear.

“I think it will be a cautious game, with no-one wanting to drop points. However, we are prepared for the certain pressure they will apply.”

The former Lyon captain also had words of praise for fellow Brazilians Rafael and Anderson. “They are two quality players who are very important to Alex Ferguson’s plans,” he added.

It’s always good to mark the great strikers. He was very good for Arsenal and now he has been excellent for Manchester United. We must be alert.”
