Santos coach Muricy Ramalho and Neymar have praised young forward Victor Andrade following his goal against Flamengo on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old grabbed his second goal of this season’s Brasileirão with a deftly chipped shot over goalkeeper Felipe in the second half of the game.
Muricy Ramalho said: “The boy [Andrade] is very fast, and was well positioned which brought depth to our attack. It was a beautiful goal. He deserves it."
However, Andrade got lost in the moment following his goal, which earned him a yellow card after he had removed his shirt.
Ramalho added: “I told him, do not run in this mood. This is not new, it has invented nothing. Celebrating shirtless always brings a card. Anyway, he"s only 16 years old."
Neymar, who scored to make it 2-0 four minutes from time at the Vila Belmiro Stadium, also thought the youngster needed to keep his emotions in check.
He said: “I told him to calm down and that there was no need to get so excited.
“However, he showed that he has plenty of talent and is going to be a great player."
Santos face Coritiba in their next league fixture, where Andrade will be looking to gain some more game time and to add to his goal tally.
