Brazilian defender Bruno Uvini has explained his motives behind choosing a move to Napoli, dding that it was Seleção captain Thiago Silva who recommended a move to Italy.
Uvini, 20, spent the second-half of last season in the Premier League with Tottenham, but failed to earn himself a permanent deal at White Hart Lane.
Now, though, the former São Paulo man once more has the opportunity to make an impression on European football in a league famed for developing centre-backs.
“Thiago Silva suggested Italy,” Uvini told reporters. “This is a place where you learn the tricks of the trade to become a great defender.
“I want to learn and play football at the highest levels and I thus believe that Napoli is the right place for me to do this.”
In the past, Uvini has found himself compared to Juventus defender Lúcio – a man who has achieved great success in his time in Italy.
The youngster, though, was quick to play-down the comparisons. “He’s a giant too, but I have my own abilities and I hope to show people what they are,” he added.
