Having completed his 400th career game in his country"s victory over China, Santos midfielder Arouca has spoken of his desire to carve a place for himself in the Seleção.

Arouca, 26, made his debut in this month"s fixture with South Africa and did enough in his two substitute displays to earn a call for the coming Superclassico fixtures with Argentina.

An industrious presence in midfield, the former Fluminense and São Paulo player believes he now has a chance to prove himself worthy of the national team.

“It"s a great honour to reach this number of games at such an important time [in my career]," Arouca told Globo.

“I am happy to be in the squad for the game against Argentina also. I want to prove to Mano that I have the attributes to stay here and help. For this, I have to continue doing my best for Santos."
