Botafogo are in the process of negotiating the transfer of Guarani striker Bruno Mendes, as they look to find a solution to their striking shortage.

Bruno, 18, made a big impression in early 2012, scoring four goals in Guarani’s state championship campaign, before adding two goals in four starts in the Copa do Brasil.

Now, Botafogo are set to hand the young forward the chance to test his skills in the Brasileirão Serie A.

Before the closure of the international transfer window, the Carioca side saw strikers Herrera and Sebastian Abreu leave the club, without signing any attacking replacements.

Attacking midfielder Elkeson has found himself playing in a makeshift striking role, with Rafael Marques and three youth team strikers the only options available to coach Oswaldo de Oliveira.

We made an offer for the player. We are still negotiating some adjustments. Is not closed, set some things still missing to hire him – said.
