Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has been ruled out two important games, after suffering an injury whilst on international duty.

The 24-year-old suffered a blow to his right thigh during the second-half of the Seleção’s 1-0 win over South Africa on Friday.

The midfielder will now miss the Seleção’s game with China later today and his club’s clash with Ponte Preta on Wednesday.

Brazil’s team doctor, José Luis Runco, said: “The pain still bothers Paulinho.

“He is already ruled out today [against China], but we also understand that he will not be able to play on Wednesday."

However, as the injury is not too serious, Paulinho could be fit to face Palmeiras in the Brasileirão on Sunday, provided he rests.

The Seleção"s game in Recife today, making it two friendlies in four days, is scheduled to kick-off 02:00am UK time.
