The agent of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa has suggested that Napoli could make a move for his client in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old was linked with a number of European clubs during the summer, with Tottenham Hotspur and Roma thought to be keen.

Costa’s representative Cesar Bottega recently stated that he held talks with Napoli about the possibility of his charge joining the Italian club, but the transfer subsequently failed to materialise.

Nevertheless, Bottega now claims that the Azzurri are considering making an offer for the Brazilian attacker in the winter transfer window.

”Napoli will be interested in young players, and Douglas is one of the promising players they are observing at the moment,” Bottega told Radio CRC.

”Napoli compete in an important League and my client would like to wear the blue colours.

”If there is interest from a big club then it is normal to want to represent them, we just have to wait and see if an offer does actually materialise.

”His price tag would be impossible to say at the moment, we need to discuss these matters with Napoli.”

Costa signed for Shakhtar from Gremio in January 2010 for a fee believed to be in the region of €6 million.
