Michel Bastos has stated his commitment to Lyon after being heavily linked with a move to England on transfer deadline day.

The 29-year-old was speaking after his side’s 3-2 victory over Valenciennes on Saturday, in which he scored an equalising goal in the 18th minute.

Bastos was largely expected to leave the Stade Gerland this summer and his agent had confirmed that discussions were taking place with two Premier League clubs, one of the teams being Fulham who had allegedly agreed terms over a temporary transfer.

However, the deal fell through with the closing of the transfer window on Friday and now Bastos is only focussed on the season ahead with Lyon.

He told olweb.fr: “I hope that the rumors about me are finished. I only have one thing in mind, to make this a superb season for Olympique Lyonnais.

“In my head I am here for the whole season.

The coach had trusted me and I wanted to show him he was right. I am happy with how I played, and with the way the team played.”

Bastos, who joined Lyon in 2009 for a fee of €18 million, has made quite an impression in Ligue 1 this season with three goals in three games to his name.
