A Tottenham Hotspur delegation are reportedly in Porte Alegre trying to sign Internacional striker Leandro Damião.

The Premier League club have previously had two bids for the 23-year-old rejected, the first worth £10 million in 2010, and the second worth £14 million last summer.

However, according to Globo Esporte, representatives of Tottenham are set to meet with Inter officials today to attempt to persuade the Brasileirão giants to cash in on Damião.

The Brazilian site states that a source close to the player claims that Spurs are ready to make the forward their record signing, meaning that they would be willing to offer at least £16.5 million.

Damião was one of the stand out performers for Brazil at the Olympic Games in London earlier this summer, finishing the tournament as the top goal scorer with six goals in as many games.
