Marquinhos has revealed that his decision to leave Corinthians to join Roma was difficult, but he did so for the good of his career.

The 18-year-old defender will be unveiled by the Giallorossi later today, after agreeing to join the Italian club on a one-year loan deal, with the option to be signed outright for €4.5 million by the end of the season.

”It was one of the most difficult decisions of my life, but after speaking to my family, my agent and the Corinthians directors for a long time, I chose Roma for the good of my career,” Marquinhos said via his Twitter account.

”In the last 10 years I have grown so much as a player and as a man. I thank everyone, from those who tidied up my room in the youth academy to the highest director.”

Marquinhos will join former Corinthians team-mates Leandro Castan and Dodô at the Stadio Olimpico, with the defensive duo already having signed for Roma earlier this summer.
