Sao Paulo defender Bruno Uvini, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, is set to complete another temporary switch to European football with Napoli.

Uvini, 21, was recently a member of the Brazilian Olympic squad but was omitted from the subsequent friendly game with Sweden after some had questioned his inclusion.

A strong defender, Uvini is yet to nail down a place in the São Paulo first-team, but alongside Juan was a member of the Under-20 side that won the FIFA World Cup last year.

Agent Stefano Castagna insisted that no deal had yet been concluded, but insisted that the youngster would be interested in a switch.

“The operation has not been concluded yet,” Castagna told Radio Marte. “Uvini is a young lad and Napoli are tracking him, but he’s not an Azzurro player yet. It will take more time and there are two weeks until the end of the transfer market.

“We have a good rapport with Napoli and he is one of the five or six Brazilian defenders they are looking at. Naturally, Napoli would be a very welcome destination and we hope it goes through. They represent the best prospect for us.

“Uvini is a born leader and Thiago Silva compared him to Lucio. He was on loan at Tottenham, but they did not make the move permanent because everything there has changed in the last three months.”
