Santos president declares Neymar as priceless following Lucas Moura's PSG move
Santos president Luis Álvaro has declared that Neymar is "priceless" following Lucas Moura’s big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The French club have paid a reported €44 million for the 19-year-old winger, who had agreed to join Manchester United and was also wanted by Inter, ending one of the summer's most intense transfer sagas.
The deal has prompted Álvaro to declare that the potential value of his side's superstar, Neymar, is incomprehensible.
The Peixe supremo told Lance!: "I am adamant in saying that Neymar is priceless. Millions and millions of euro, dollars and reais could not pay for him.
"He is a unique player, distinguished and the great idol of Brazilian football. He is impossible to negotiate for.
"I also understand that the amount spent for Lucas is deserved. Both are players who represent a new stage of Brazilian football. Along with Leandro Damião - they are impressing the world."
Neymar signed a new contract with Santos in December 2011, which includes a buy-out clause of €65 million.
La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have been tipped to make a move for the Brazil international, but Santos want to keep hold of him until the new deal expires.
Álvaro added: "I do not regret anything. On the contrary, I am even more convinced that the service paid to the history of Santos is priceless.
"We are seeing the affection of the fans, how important it was for the young fans to see Neymar remain at the [Vila] Belmiro. I am privileged to have secured Neymar until 2014, at the end of his contract."
Álvaro is also pleased that Lucas has departed Brazilian football for France.
"Sao Paulo has lost a player who always took great risks against Santos. His trip to Europe is a relief," he joked.
