On Saturday afternoon, Southampton were defeated 1-0 by Eredivisie champions Ajax, in a fiercely competitive friendly encounter. The only goal came from the boot of Aras Ozbiliz in the second-half.
Midfielder Guly do Prado showed good signs for the season to come, starting the game before being substituted in the 84th minute for Chambers.
“We played well and created many opportunities,” said the Brazilian post-match. “We retained the ball well, but unfortunately they scored from an individual error.
“Physically, we were better and we increased our speed of play. It’s a game that will give us confidence for the future.”
