Highly sought-after Flamengo youngster Douglas Baggio is celebrating after winning the first phase of the Under-17 Rio de Janeiro championship, the Taça Guanabara.
Flamengo captured the state championship crown last weekend with a 7-6 victory on penalties over rivals Fluminense, with Douglas central to their success.
Douglas, 17, scored 23 goals in 16 games as the Rubro-Negro shot to success, finishing as top-scorer, to add to the same award in the Copa Rio in January.
Linked with both Chelsea and Real Madrid, the young star is rapidly becoming the most talked about youth-team player in Brazil.
"It is a very important win for me and the team, it is another title for my career. I hope to win more from now on," Douglas told Sambafoot.
"I am enjoying all the attention I am getting [from the media]. I thank God that I am now known not only in Brazil, but also in Europe. I hope it stays like this as I progress.
"I hope to be a great professional player and to go on to win many titles!"
