Botafogo: Seedorf is not enough

Botafogo president Mauricio Assumpção was in ecstatic mood on Saturday night, as the Carioca side announced the signing of global superstar Clarence Seedorf. However, he was quick to add that the side must strengthen further.
Botafogo, who are currently lying eighth in the Brazilian championship, have been rumoured to be close to selling seveeral of their prized assets, but at the same time are looking for bigger names as they look to mount a title challenge.
Assumpção told Globo Esporte: “We have a team and a quality squad, but to be champion we need reinforcements. We are currently looking for these. Seedorf has arrived now and we will continue to work so we can have more new parts.
"The Botafogo fans can celebrate. Seedorf is ours. It was a result of a long period of hard work, not just these two or three months. He is a world class player and was delighted with the project we presented. He is very excited by all this."
On Seedorf, Assumpção added to Reuters: "He's the greatest foreign player ever to sign for a Brazilian club. He is really not coming for money.
"He is a player driven by challenges and he told me that Brazilian football is where he can play at a high level for another two years. He is not coming only to visit."
