Diego Souza denies link with São Paulo

Diego Souza scored his second goal of the 2012 Campeonato Brasileiro on Saturday night to return Vasco da Gama to the summit of the division, but was immediately bombarded with questions over his future.

Diego Souza, 27, has for sometime been regarded as a leading light of the domestic game in Brazil, and has recently been linked with a switch to São Paulo or Al Ahli in Qatar.

However, the creative midfielder, who has often been used as a makeshift striker, was quick to quash the transfer talk.

He said: “It's only speculation. I am not aware of anything like that. What matters is that Vasco won an important match and returned to the top of the table.”
