Juninho signs contract extension with Vasco

Vasco have announced that Juninho Pernambucano has extended his contract with the club until the end of the year with the option of a further six months.
The 37-year-old, who returned to training on Monday after picking up a Flu virus last week, has thus far been one of the Cruz de Malta’s key players this year, scoring 10 goals in 25 appearances.
''My intention was always to stay, and hopefully help the team in these next six months,'' Juninho told Globo Esporte.
''This might be my last contract, so I hope to play as well as I possibly can during this period.''
Juninho, who played for Brazil at the 2006 World Cup, is best known for his spell in France with Olympique Lyonnais, where he scored 44 of his 100 goals via free kicks.
Reports in Brazil had suggested that Sport Recife were interested in re-signing the midfielder.
