Douglas Baggio, 17, scored a stunning overhead kick as Flamengo overcame Vasco at Under-17 level on Saturday.
The young forward, tracked by Chelsea and Real Madrid in recent months has been scoring goals for fun in the youth version of the Carioca state championships, with today’s his 21st in 13 matches.
The goal, in a 4-2 win over their traditional rivals, saw Flamengo through to the final of the Taça Guanabara.
Top-scorer in the prestigious Copa Rio in January, Douglas has seen his name thrust into the media in recent months, with everybody wanting a piece of the latest Brazilian ‘wonderkid’ to emerge.
He recently told reporters that his father had named him after Italian football legend Roberto Baggio, who missed a penalty in the 1994 World Cup final against Brazil shortly before his birth.
