Ramires delight at Di Matteo appointment

Chelsea star Ramires has given his backing to the appointment of Roberto di Matteo as permanent manager at Stamford Bridge, following a brilliant FA Cup and Champions League double.

Ramires, 25, played a key role for Di Matteo's Chelsea side in the two triumphs and has told the Globoesporte of his delight at the permanent deal.

''Chelsea's board made the right decision, it would have been a risk to do anything different,'' Ramires said. ''A different manager would need time to know the players and might not adapt. 

''Di Matteo managed to make Chelsea play the way he planned and won the world's most important club competition. Thus, he deserves to be regarded as one of the most important managers nowadays.''
