Leonardo – PSG will not be signing Higuain

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo insists the club will not sign Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentina international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu after playing second fiddle to Karim Benzema for much of the 2011-12 campaign.

PSG midfielder Javier Pastore recently stated that his club were in talks with Higuain, but Leonardo has now declared that the French side are no longer interested in acquiring the striker's services.

''There is no project with Higuain,'' the Brazilian told Le Parisien. ''We are assembling a competitive and balanced team for Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

''We are not looking to sign a star, we do not need a big name.

''Higuain is a player of Madrid and he is not on the market.''
