Douglas – Newcastle are one of five clubs interested in me

FC Twente defender Douglas has claimed that Newcastle are one of five clubs that are interested in signing him this summer.
The 24-year-old has long been linked with a move to the Sports Direct Arena after impressing in the Dutch Eredivisie over the last few seasons.
Douglas admits that he is now seeking a fresh challenge after spending five years at FC Twente, and has revealed that he turned down the chance to join Ajax because he wants to experience playing in a different country.
''I have personally been in touch with Ajax and immediately said that I'm not interested,'' he told NuSport.
''I want to go abroad as I have outgrown the league. I noticed this year that I am sometimes a little too easy going down, then you make mistakes. I want to be tested every week.
''I have spent five years [at Twente] and have done my best for the club. I have won the title, the cup - it's time for a next step.
''Five clubs are interested and there's a bigger club than Newcastle. I cannot still say anything about it, but I hope soon to have my new club."
