AC Milan legend Baresi lauds Thiago Silva

AC Milan legend Franco Baresi has heaped praise on Thiago Silva, admitting that the Brazil international could well become his natural successor in the Rossoneri defence.

Baresi, 52, was voted Milan's Player of the Century in 1999 following 20 very successful years at the club between 1977 and 1997.

''I hope Thiago Silva is my heir,'' Baresi told Folha de São Paulo. ''I would like him to stay at Milan for several years. He's a player who has proven he has great qualities and that he is important for the future of Milan.

''It's difficult to identify where he can still improve. He has already proven to have everything.''
