David Luiz: Champions League silences Chelsea critics

Chelsea defender David Luiz believes that the club's historic Champions League win will have silenced their critics after a season of ups and downs.

David Luiz, 25, played an important role in the final success, having worked his way back from injury in order to be fit for the occasion.

Talking about the success to The People newspaper, David Luiz dedicated the win to Chelsea's fans: "The week of celebrations has been enormous but I think we deserved it. Our fans will always remember the date, May 19, 2012.

"I always had confidence in my recuperation (thigh problem) for the day in Munich. I sacrificed the FA Cup Final to fight for my place in the Champions League Final and the work of the medical staff and my effort was incredible. Our titles have silenced many mouths because people had buried us and had no confidence in our results.

"Nobody gave us the titles we have won - all our rivals fought 100 per cent. I do not accept that Chelsea was a team with luck because it is not true."
