Brazil legend Ronaldo claims the whole world wants to see his former Real Madrid team-mate David Beckham playing for Team GB at this summer's Olympics.

At 37, Beckham is being tipped by many to be one of the three over-age players in Stuart Pearce's Team GB squad for the Under-23 tournament.

''I know David would love to play for Team GB — and he should. It would be a great chance for him to achieve his Olympic dream,'' Ronaldo told The Sun.

''I do not have a reason why he shouldn't be picked. It would be good for GB and it would be good for the tournament for him to play in his home city. He has a chance to make history.

''There is no doubt that the whole world would like to see him play.''

Beckham will find out if he has been included in Team GB's 18-man squad at the start of June.
