Flamengo to give Joel Santana more time

Santana was only appointed as coach at the beginning of February, but following Flamengo's recent Copa Libertadores exit it was suggested that he would be sacked should the Rubro Negro fail to retain their Carioca state championship crown.
However after Sunday's 3-2 defeat, Amorim has given the 63-year-old the vote of confidence and insists that she will not sack the former South Africa manager.
''The idea is not to change the coach now,'' she told Globoesporte. ''We are not thinking about replacing Joel. We have to give him time.
''We will not spend millions again on replacing a coach. We were eliminated from the Librtadores and now in the Carioca, but this is not everything. We've had bad moments, but moments of victory as well.
''There will not be a change of coach. We have to work reasonably and not with our emotions.''
Flamengo's next competitive match will be away against Sport Recife in the first round of the Campeonato Brasileiro in four weeks time.
